The office of Douglas Peters>architect was established formally in 2009 with the wonderful support of several Clients and Contractors, it was to answer the needs of Clients and Contractors looking for high-quality Design, Documentation, with honest single point of Communication.
The Office was informally started in 1999 with several small residential and commercial office tenant improvement commissions.
Douglas has developed strengths in all phases of design and management from commercial (core&shell buildings and interiors/tenant improvements), cultural (museums and amphitheaters), residential (mixed-use/multi-family/custom single-family), urban planning projects, and corporate identity graphics.
Douglas's varied experience started in early childhood with his love drawing and his Art lessons which he still uses.
He has worked at Gensler (as a Senior Associate, co-Design Realization Leader of Gensler's LA Officer), DesignARC (Associate), RTKL, and Bondanelli and Associates.
Douglas was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, and studied architecture throughout high school, then undergraduate studies at the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) at Ball State University (BSU) in Muncie, Indiana, before moving to Los Angeles in 1995 for graduate studies at Southern California Institute of Architect (SCI-Arc).

Douglas has also designed sets, props, and graphics for the movie “The Effects of Magic”; starring the Carradine brothers, Melinda Dillon, and Kathy Bates. One of those sets was later used in the Coen brother’s movie, the "Big Lebowski" theater scene filmed at the Ivar theater, Hollywood. Douglas uses this experience in his designs for studios and graphic design commissions.
